Things to see and do near Seaton

If you're planning a visit to Seaton, you'll find that there are plenty of things to see and do in the surrounding area. Here are just a few ideas to help you make the most of your trip.

  • Eating Out – Sample the local seafood at one of Seaton's many restaurants. Enjoy a meal overlooking the sea at the Esplanade Hotel, or take a short drive to Beer for a hearty pub lunch.
  • Fossil Hunting – Seaton is located on the Jurassic Coast, so it's the perfect place to look for fossils. Take a guided tour or explore the beaches with a metal detector.
  • Seaton Wetlands – Explore this amazing nature reserve and spot a variety of birds, insects, and wildflowers. Take a boat trip along the Axe Estuary to get a closer look.
  • Beer Quarry Caves – Visit these enormous underground limestone quarries and learn about their fascinating history. See artefacts and tools used by the miners.
  • Seaton Tramway – Take a ride on the oldest operating electric tramway in the world. Enjoy the views of the coastline from the top deck.
  • Axe Valley Wildlife Park – Visit this family-friendly zoo and get up close to a variety of animals. Feed the wallabies, see the meerkats, and watch the sea lions.
  • Sidmouth – Take a short drive along the coast to the charming seaside town of Sidmouth. Enjoy a stroll along the beachfront, browse the shops, and visit the Donkey Sanctuary.
  • Axe Valley Cycle Trail – Get out and explore the countryside on two wheels. Follow the trail from Seaton to Beer and back, or extend your ride along the River Axe.
  • Colyton – Visit this picturesque town, known as the most rebellious town in England. Take a walk around the village and explore the medieval church.
  • Salcombe Hill Nature Reserve – Hike up to the top of Salcombe Hill and enjoy panoramic views of the countryside. Look out for red deer and other wildlife.
  • Beer Head – Take a walk along the dramatic cliffs of Beer Head and admire the stunning coastal views. Look out for dolphins, seals, and seabirds.
  • Branscombe Beach – Spend a day at this stunning beach, fringed by cliffs and rock pools. Pack a picnic and relax in one of the beach huts.
  • Seaton Jurassic – Visit this interactive science centre and explore the local geology and wildlife. Take part in a workshop or join a guided tour.
  • Blackdown Hills – Explore the rolling hills and valleys of the Blackdown Hills. Enjoy a spot of birdwatching or visit one of the many historic sites.
  • Seaton Jurassic Coast Centre – Follow the trail along the coast and learn about the area's fascinating geology. Pick up a souvenir from the shop or take part in a workshop.
