Things to see and do near Sandymere

If you're planning a visit to Sandymere, you'll find that there are plenty of things to see and do in the surrounding area. Here are just a few ideas to help you make the most of your trip.

  • Local Beaches – Sandymere is located near some of Devon's best beaches, including Woolacombe, Croyde, and Saunton Sands. Spend a day in the sun, building sandcastles, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
  • Exmoor National Park – Explore the beauty of Exmoor National Park and its stunning landscapes, rivers, and moorland. Hike through the trails and discover the wildlife, or take a leisurely stroll along the coast.
  • Water Sports – Try your hand at a variety of water sports, from kayaking, surfing, and paddle boarding to sailing and windsurfing. There are plenty of options to choose from in nearby Croyde and Woolacombe.
  • Family Activities – Spend the day at The Milky Way Adventure Park or The Big Sheep, both located nearby. Or, take the kids to the donkey sanctuary for a day of animal fun.
  • Shopping – Shop till you drop in the local town of Barnstaple, with its mix of independent stores and national chains. There are also flea markets and farmers markets to explore.
  • History – Visit historical sites such as Clovelly, Arlington Court and The National Trust's Arlington Estate. Or, take a trip to Castle Hill, a historic Iron Age hill fort.
  • Pubs & Restaurants – Enjoy a traditional pub lunch at one of the many pubs in the area, or sample some of the delicious local seafood in one of the nearby restaurants.
  • Arts & Culture – Take in some of the local culture with a visit to the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington or the Ilfracombe Museum.
  • National Trust Sites – Discover the National Trust's beautiful gardens and landscapes at Arlington Court, Croyde and Hartland Point.
  • Exmoor Zoo – Head to the Exmoor Zoo for a day of animal fun. Meet the creatures and learn about the work the zoo does to protect endangered species.
  • Wildlife Watching – Take a trip to the Exmoor National Park or the North Devon Coast and spot some of the area's wildlife, from red deer to dolphins.
  • Cycling & Walking – Explore the region on two wheels or take a hike along one of the many walking routes.
  • Golf – Enjoy a round of golf at one of the local golf courses, such as the Saunton Golf Club.
  • Horse Riding – Enjoy the stunning scenery on horseback with a ride at one of the area's many horse riding schools.
